Shoutout to everyone with mental illnesses and neurodivergencies which are being triggered or worsened by the current state of the world! Shoutout to the anxious people who struggle to stay rational even when everything goes right and who now have to face various challenges and dangers which even neurotypical people are struggling to manage properly on top of their existing anxiety. Shoutout to the addicts who are fighting not to use. Shoutout to the people with personality disorders who are struggling to stay stable.
Shotuout to the people with OCD who are fighting not to rely on their obsessions and compulsions in order to get through this. Shoutout to the autistic people who have had their daily schedules and routines turned upside down and who are struggling to cope with all the unexpected changes. Shoutout to the people whose depression is getting worse because they couldn’t leave their home even if they wanted to. Shoutout to the people with ADHD who are feeling restless and understimulated because of the self isolation.
Shoutout to the people with eating disorders who may feel strong urges to restrict because they are desperately looking for a sense of control. Shoutout to the people with psychosis and schizophrenia whose symptoms are being triggered and aggravated by all the stress. Shoutout to the traumatized people who are forced to self isolate with their abusers or who are struggling to maintain their recovery process because what little safety and stability they had found seems to be falling apart.
Shoutout to everyone out there whose mental health is being negatively affected by all of this. I know it’s hard, and I don’t blame you for struggling. Right now even the most neurotypical people are struggling to cope - and for those of us with existing brain struggles, it’s even worse. I hope we’ll all be okay and that we’ll somehow safely make it to the other side of this crisis. In the meantime, please know that I’m sending lots of love towards all of you.
In case it isn’t clear, that is literally the last bone of a cat’s toes attached to those claws. If you thought only the claw was being removed during declaw surgery, you are unfortunately mistaken. It’s an amputation.
Get claw caps instead! They stay on pretty well and your cat can walk around normally. You can take them off whenever you want. This is great for house cats. They don’t need their claws for defense but they need them to walk the way we need toes. This keeps them from scratching you or furniture and keeps them happy and healthy. It’s a win for everyone. Plus your cat will look like it got a kitty manicure.
Reblogging again for the last comment, for anyone who wants to argue about saving their precious furniture. Boom! Problem solved.
I regularly trim my cat’s claws because I love him
They’re super cheap too!
Not really a cat person, but this is still important.
